**Update - Metametrix (Genova) no longer uses PCR analysis but has reverted back to microscope methods which is unreliable.

Hi Patrick, Here are some abstracts, a white paper, and comments on Metametrix’ stool test and the company itself… The Manual of Clinical Microbiology says, “PCR is the best developed and most widely used nucleic acid amplification strategy . . . . These techniques have sensitivity unparalleled in laboratory medicine, have created new opportunities for the clinical laboratory to have an effect on patient care and have become the new ‘gold standards’ for laboratory diagnosis of several infectious diseases.”1 Metametrix is the first commercial clinical reference laboratory to offer GI microbiota testing using DNA analysis. It is more sensitive and specific than routine stool culture and ova and parasitology tests. We get requests frequently for information about Strongyloides from clinicians that are new to this type of testing and its enhanced sensitivity for detecting low levels of microbes in stool. Strongyloides is difficult to detect using the older testing methods. The scientists at Metametrix have demonstrated substantial growth of some bacteria and yeast in the growth media previously used for transporting specimens to the lab. That means that the occurrence of false positives has been significantly reduced by measuring the bacterial levels in a transport medium that fixes all growth activity, since we do not need viable organisms to detect their DNA. Metametrix is licensed by federal and state agencies to perform clinical laboratory testing in all 50 states. Our licenses and other information regarding our company and services can be found on our website, metametrix.com. Our reputation for quality and innovation over the past 27 years has brought us recognition as a leader in the field. 1. Murray PR, Baron EJ, American Society for Microbiology. Thank you!  So much for Metametrix being a lab with no credibility or validity.   These Docs don't help you, but what's worse, they make you feel 10 times worse about the situation by suggesting there's nothing wrong with you.  They are painfully ignorant of many things related to parasites, but have HUGE egos, and think they know everything.
