REDOX = REDuction of OXygen = reducing oxidative stress = reduction of oxidation = reduction of toxins

Toxins cause major stress on all systems of the body. Toxins create pain. Toxins are gathered in the environment from chemicals in personal care products, food, water and air. The strongest toxins are the ones the immune system releases during pathogenic invasion such as parasites.

Failure to release the toxins increases metabolic stress, stress on organ systems and more work for the immune system.

Toxins attack the cells of your body which make them weaker.

Releasing toxins allows everything to work smoother, you feel better, you sleep better, you recover better and you become more productive.

I have done many many experiments and have had success with a number of things:

1. Check your pH (which I use saliva) - when you are acid on the pH ( less than 7.5) you have toxicity.

2. By alkalizing, you are simply negating the acids. In other words if gray is the optimal color and you are too black, you add white. Balance the scales.

3. Minerals that are alkaline solve part of that problem. Sodium, potassium, magnesium and calcium are all alkalizing.

4. Vitamin C is the best antioxidant I have found. I use a buffered form which is pH neutral vs. ascorbic acid which is acidic.

5. Baking soda is very alkalizing, if you dip the pH paper in baking soda the paper will turn deep blue/purple where acid conditions turn yellow.

6. I put baking soda in some water and drink - if you are sodium sensitive then you will have to monitor this.

7. I add Ultra Potassium and Ion Charge from Source Naturals. IonCharge is an electrolyte loaded product. Electrolytes work in the body supporting nervous system, detoxification, cardio and so on. I am a big fan of magnesium which is a critical element - Doctor's Best has a good form which is mag glycinate/lysine (High Absorption Magnesium).

The combination works wonders, drink lots of water. I follow up in a few hours with bulk charcoal which is a proven grabber of toxins, sweeps the toxins out of the intestinal tract.

*baking soda is sodium bicarbonate - your body manufacturers bicarbonates in order to neutralize toxins. As always check with your healthcare provider before starting any new protocol.

Redox in the body is controlled by internal processes which largely consist of glutathione, superoxide dismutase and catalase. Glutathione is a powerful antioxidant that is manufactured from certain amino acids and other vitamin co-factors. My experience with it were mixed. Using Liposomal Glutathione was the best where other forms such as capsules offered no help. My suggestion is this should be started very slowly (1/4 of the recommended dose) and moved up slowly. I also tried various forms of SOD (superoxide dismutase) and again found the most effective form as liposomal. I have no information about supplemental catalase. Using baseline nutrients will help all processes since everything in the body is manufactured from these raw materials.

Magnesium plays a key role in glutathione production - Selenium is also of note.

And supplementing with copper and manganese help superoxide dismutase because they are required to bind as substrates to make the reactions occur. Both need to be started in very low doses.

IMO, my protozoal infection affects all three of these processes. I have a decrease in BH4 due to the chronic infection which eventually causes decreases in glutathione, I have SOD II mutations (epigenetic shift due protozoan), and I have always felt that the protozoan affects the carboxylase reactions in the Ornithine Cycle. Evidence to back this up is excessive ammonia production, excessive carbon dioxide production, and blocked pathways that cause me to excrete substances through my pores which creates a unique smell.

Thanks for adding those comments, very helpful. I would like to pick up discussions on the BH4 and the epigenetics ideas. Perhaps we can start a new thread on those subjects.

There are some studies that antioxidants such as Vit C & E help preserve the levels of the internal antioxidants, the same is said about turmeric which has been a good help for me. It is suggested to increase absorption that it be warmed up in which case I put in some warm water and gulp as a tea. Turmeric has added benefits such as protecting cardio health, immunity, killing cancer cells, antibiotic, anti inflammatory and assisting the liver which is a big problem for those suffering with chronic infections. In Chinese medicine this would be considered to be a stagnant condition. The strong oxides produced by immunity attack cells and create a mess that the liver has to clean up. Also been adding ashwaghanda which many report favorably about.

We know that 2+2=4.  In our bodies, the formula is A+B=C where C is good health.  A and B are factors that when added together make good health.  When we have poor health, we don't have either A or B.  To regain that health, we must determine exactly what A or B is so that we can get it back so that we can regain good health.  A is macronutrients.  It could be iodine, lithium, Boron, Selenium, Manganese, Magnesium, Zinc, Copper, or any of the other vital elements that our body uses to drive it's processes.  It could be one of these or a combination of all of them.  B is epigenetics or genetics.  Your biological pathways don't function efficiently because of poor genetics or epigenetic shifts.  Each of these contribute to poor health or good health.  A third variable that determines both A and B is your microbiome.  It can cause a decrease in nutrients or epigenetic shifts.  We happen to have protozoans so we are often depleted of divalent cations and harbor other detrimental bacteria like H. pylori.  This affects elimination of toxic by products as well as levels of nutrients.

In body building, if you follow the correct program, you will get results.  Whether you are trying to gain weight or lose weight, there is a formula for achieving your desired results.  The same applies for good health.  If we give the body what it needs, we will be healthy (my guess is 90% of the time) as 10% of the population has genetics that are not conducive to good health.  So in essence, all of us that are in poor health, we are not giving the body what it needs to be healthy.

I believe I have it figured out, the health stuff that is.  I am still perplexed by how the protozoan is affecting my catalase function and casein kinase II.
